Thanks to Kevin for leaving these comments and letting me know about Enid's passing.
Enid, who owned the house before me,
and Lorraine, who used to visit as a child.

It is wonderful to see the photo's of the house which my grandparents (Joseph and Violet Dean) lived in for many years from the early 1900's.
My mother and her 3 sisters and brother grew up there.
I had great times visiting from home in Boort during Christmas and Easter when they the Dean girls gathered with their parents.
Unfortunately the last of the family passed away last week, so it is good to see a reminder of happy times past.

thanks so much for your comments. It's sad to hear of Enid's passing, she was (is) a really lovely soul.
I visited her a few times after she moved to the John Curtin Hostel in Creswick, and brought her over to see the garden and house in the spring. And she came for afternoon tea another time with Lorraine Ainley, who also had fond memories of the house from visiting during her childhood.
Enid was delighted with what I'd done with the place, both inside and out. Especially the way so much of the old that she remembered was preserved. She said her parents would have loved it.
She was especially fond of the nectarine trees she planted herself - and they truly were glorious fruits, the best I've ever tasted. I took some over to her when they were ripe, but it was hard to keep them from the birds and most of them had peck-marks, but she said she didn't mind and it was like I'd handed her a bag of gold.
